Terms of Service
The short version
- This is a trading journal: software for recording and reviewing your own trades. It is not financial advice and it does not connect to any broker.
- After a 30-day free trial it costs $7.99 a month plus sales tax where it applies. A card is required to start the trial, and it is charged automatically when the trial ends unless you cancel first.
- You can cancel anytime. Your trades stay yours: if you stop paying you can still read and export everything you logged.
- Your coach can read your journal. That is what the coach features are for.
The rest of this page says the same things carefully. If the short version and the full text ever disagree, the full text applies.
1. Who we are
FTJournal ("the journal", "we", "us") is software available at ftjournal.trade. It is operated by a sole proprietorship based in Pennsylvania, USA. You can reach us at support@ftjournal.trade.
FTJournal is built in partnership with Flaco Trades, a trading education community, and its owner is a partner in Flaco Trades. A Flaco Trades membership (sold on Whop) and an FTJournal subscription are separate purchases with separate terms. FTJournal is not affiliated with, or endorsed by, any broker, prop firm or exchange named in the journal.
By creating an account or using the journal you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, do not use it.
2. What the journal is, and is not
The journal is a tool for recording your own trades, notes and screenshots and for calculating statistics from what you enter. Every figure it shows is arithmetic on what you and other members type in. Nothing is connected to a broker, and nothing is verified. If a trade is entered wrong, every number that depends on it will be wrong too.
The journal is not financial, investment, tax or legal advice, and nothing in it is a recommendation to buy or sell anything. Trading futures and other instruments carries a real risk of losing money, including more than you put in. Notes, grades and feedback from a coach are that coach's personal opinion, given for education. They are not advice from us, and no result is promised or implied. What you do with anything you read in the journal is your decision and your responsibility.
3. Accounts
- The journal is invite-only. A coach adds your email address, and you create your account from the invite email sent to that address. After that you sign in with your username or email and password, or with Google where offered.
- You must be at least 18 years old.
- Keep access to your email account secure: anyone who can read your email can sign in as you. Tell us promptly if you think someone else has used your account.
- One account per person. Do not share your account or sign in as someone else.
4. Coaches and what they can see
Each room has one or more coaches. A coach can read your whole journal - your trades, notes, screenshots, accounts and statistics - and can write coach notes and grades that you will see. A coach cannot edit or delete your trades. A coach can also add members, turn accounts off, remove them, and download a backup of the room, which includes your journal. The Privacy Policy explains this in more detail.
5. Free trial, price and billing
- Trial. New members get one free 30-day trial. A payment card is required to start it. The trial is offered once per person: cancelling and signing up again does not start a new one.
- Automatic renewal. Unless you cancel before your trial ends, your card is charged $7.99, plus any applicable sales tax, when the trial ends, and again every month after that until you cancel. You will get a reminder email before the trial ends.
- Who processes the payment. Payments are sold and processed through Link, a service of Stripe, which acts as the reseller and merchant of record for your purchase. That is why your card statement shows LINK.COM*. Link's own terms apply to the payment itself, and Link sends your receipts.
- Taxes. Sales tax is calculated from your billing address and added on top of the price where the law requires it.
- Failed payments. If a renewal payment fails, you keep full access for up to 14 days while the payment is retried. Update your card from Billing in the journal. If payment still has not succeeded after that, the subscription ends.
- Price changes. If the price changes, we will email you at least 30 days before your next charge at the new price. You can cancel before then.
6. Cancelling
You can cancel anytime from Billing in the journal, or through Link. When you cancel, you are not charged again, and you keep access until the end of the period you have already paid for. If you cancel during the free trial, you are never charged.
Refunds are covered by the Refund Policy.
7. When a subscription ends
If your trial or subscription ends, you can no longer add or change entries, but you can still sign in, read, and export everything you logged. We keep it until you ask us to delete it or your account is removed. You can subscribe again at any time.
8. If your coach removes you, or we close your account
- If a coach turns off or removes your account while you have an active subscription, the subscription is cancelled immediately, you are not charged again, and the charge for the current month is refunded in full.
- Removing an account permanently deletes the journal that belongs to it. A turned-off account is kept but cannot be used until it is turned back on.
- We may suspend or close an account that breaks these terms. Where we do, the same cancellation and refund applies unless the account was closed for fraud or abuse.
9. Acceptable use
Do not use the journal to break the law; to upload anything you do not have the right to share; to harass anyone; to try to reach data that is not yours; to interfere with or overload the service; or to copy, resell or reverse-engineer it. Screenshots and notes you upload should be your own trading.
10. Your content
What you enter stays yours. You give us permission to store it, display it to you and your coaches, and process it as needed to run the journal - nothing more. We do not sell it, and we do not use it for advertising. You can export it at any time.
11. Availability and changes to the journal
We work to keep the journal running and your data safe, but we cannot promise it will always be available or error-free. Keep your own backups using the export feature. We may change or improve features over time. If we ever stop offering the journal, we will give members reasonable notice and a chance to export their data.
12. Disclaimers
To the extent the law allows, the journal is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy and non-infringement. We do not warrant that any statistic, grade or note is accurate or suitable for any trading decision.
13. Limitation of liability
To the extent the law allows: we are not liable for trading losses, lost profits, or any indirect, incidental, special or consequential damages arising from your use of the journal; and our total liability for any claim relating to the journal is limited to the amount you paid for it in the 12 months before the claim. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law.
14. Governing law and disputes
These terms are governed by the laws of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, USA, without regard to its conflict-of-law rules. Before bringing any claim, please email us so we can try to resolve it informally. Any legal proceeding must be brought in the state or federal courts located in Pennsylvania, unless the law where you live gives you the right to bring it elsewhere. Nothing in these terms takes away rights you have under the consumer protection laws that apply to you.
15. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. If a change is significant, we will tell members by email or in the journal before it takes effect. Continuing to use the journal after that means you accept the updated terms. The date at the top of this page shows when they last changed.
